Both students and lecturers at the University of Flensburg had a wonderful opportunity, Feb. 10th to Feb. 12th, to participate in an international student conference with representatives from the University in Penza, Russia, Prof Dr. Aleksey Salomatin, Dr. Svetlana Suleymanova and six students of law. As part of the European Studies 'Comparative Legal Politics' course, this conference covered a wide-range of topics dealing with in-depth comparisons of various laws and legal processes. Some of the topics covered were, visa-scheme comparisons, advertising law, housing policy, criminal law and many more.
The students at the University of Flensburg also were given the opportunity to help organize the conference, which allowed them to gain valuable practical experience in conference planning.
The conference was a great success and each participant, student and lecturers alike, saw great potential for further cooperation between the two universities. This conference allowed for not only a great opportunity to show the students from Penza the city of Flensburg, but also allowed for academic debate and the sharing of ideas between the students and lecturers.
We hope to welcome our friends from the University of Penza again soon.
